Gerardo Andrés Refoyo
Gerardo Andrés Refoyo (San Sebastián, 1975) works with wood in a multidisciplinary way, incorporating techniques such as turning, carving, cabinetmaking, and basketry into his works.
Self-taught, his pieces refer to forms inspired by nature, with a strong aesthetic component that evokes Oriental minimalism, with influences such as Isamu Noguchi or Barbara Hepworth. He likes to highlight the functionality of his pieces (ambient lamps, tables, vases, etc.) but without neglecting the beauty and elegance they acquire after passing through his hands.
He usually works with woods from his natural environment in Faramontanos de Tábara (Zamora), such as pear, oak, holm oak, chestnut, beech, or walnut and, of course, any variety that falls into his hands.
He has participated in numerous design and contemporary craft fairs, as well as in designer furniture exhibitions. Among them, the Matadero Design Market in Madrid, or several of the “Decoración” events organized by Nuevo Estilo magazine.
From Kresspo, Woodturning Art Studio, I want to thank him for his interest in participating in this space as a Collaborating Artist.
